Love Your Wetlands: A Month-Long Celebration

In celebration of our local wetlands, San Diego Audubon and the UC Natural Reserve System hosted virtual events over the month of February, 2021. These have been recorded for your viewing pleasure.

Drawing ReWild Parallels with Wetland Restoration in Santa Barbara County

ReWild Mission Bay, Citizens Coordinate for Century III, and the UC Natural Reserve System hosted this webinar on Feb. 9, 2021, with Dr. Lisa Stratton, Director of Ecosystem Management with the Cheadle Center for Biodiversity and Ecological Restoration (CCBER) at UC Santa Barbara. She discussed a successful wetlands restoration project on the UCSB campus, and explored how a similar path could be taken to restore wetlands in Mission Bay.

The Future is Now: King Tides and Climate Resiliency

The premiere of our King Tides: the Future is Now short video took place on Feb. 16, 2021. This project visualizes the current impacts of king tides and how they foreshadow the future of sea level rise. Participating photographers included three high school students, who were supported by San Diego Audubon staff, partners, and Leland Foerster, retired photography instructor from the UC San Diego Extension program. Julia Chase, Senior Planner with the City of San Diego, and Heidi Vonblum, Deputy Director of Environmental Policy and Public Spaces also provided an update on the City’s climate resiliency planning efforts.
