June Thompson is passionate about San Diego’s natural history and native habitat. She currently works as a naturalist in the SDAS education program. She is also a trained naturalist and co-chair of the Mission Trails Regional Park Trail Guides Program, where she guides members of the public on nature walks. June is on staff at the Sierra Club - San Diego Chapter, Wilderness Basics Course, teaching new backpackers outdoor skills and leading multi-day backpacking trips as a Certified Outings Leader. June is currently completing a Master’s degree in Geography at San Diego State University and is also earning an Associate’s degree in Geographic Information Systems at San Diego Mesa college. You can find June spending all her free time hiking in the chaparral and backpacking throughout California year-round.
