Birding for Beginners- the Bird-Blitz
Nurture your love and knowledge of birds with a beginner’s birding class designed to connect you with the birding community and improve your skills in bird identification. We will spend quality time observing and discussing birds and their behavior, to build your understanding of the sights, sounds, behaviors, and natural history of a selection of our feathered friends.
This is a five-week class which will be divided into two sections: online on Thursday evenings and in-person field trips on Sundays. Classes will begin on April 14 and field trips end on May 22. Full details are on the web page (see www.sandiegoaudubon.org/birding and click the item for this event.) Registrants will receive full details, directions and reminders of each activity on the schedule.
This is our final field trip, which will take place at Anstine-Audubon Preserve. We'll be doing a "Bird-blitz," where the class will break into teams and bird the preserve to see how many different species and individual birds we can see. At the end, we'll tally it up and compare what we got. The winning teams get prizes, and we'll all celebrate how far we've come as birders.
Recording of the first session via Zoom will be available to class participants for a limited period of time.
Instructor: Jen Hajj and field trip leaders
To attend the entire course: $135 for SDAS members, $160 for non-members.
