Habitat Restoration Events

At these work parties, held throughout the year but concentrated during our field season in January through April, volunteers help restore coastal dune habitat by removing invasive plants, replanting native plants, and conducting other land management activities (putting out protective structures for chicks, mending fences, etc.). No experience is required and these events are open to the public. This is a great way to get a taste for the work that we do to protect endangered species in Mission Bay!

Keep an eye out for upcoming habitat restoration events on our events calendar. Wear long pants, sturdy shoes, and sun/rain protection. Tools and water will be provided. Bring a reusable water bottle for refills.

For questions, RSVPs, or directions, contact Megan Flaherty, our Restoration Program Manager, at, or at 858-273-7800 x 106. Work parties for large groups can be arranged. All participants must sign a service waiver (available on site, and downloadable file available to the left.)
