Explore the Wetlands During Open Visiting Hours

Wander the Wetlands! Visit Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve on the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. While the educational trailer is under construction, we will be meeting at an alternate location. See details below!

Nature lovers, bird enthusiasts and anyone interested in learning more about the habitat existing in the heart of our city are welcome!
Learn about the birds at Kendall-Frost Marsh and discover the natural history and restoration progress in Mission Bay. Take in the extraordinary sights found only in protected habitats like this one.

Everyone can still come and Wander but we'll also be adding new structured activities to this program beginning September 24th, 2022:
Second Saturday, 9-11 AM. Learn what lives in the marsh! We will have bird walks and fish seining expeditions to explore the hidden life of the marsh. No registration required. Bird walks will depart from the gate East of the normal entrance where Love Your Wetlands Day takes place. For fish seining days, meet us directly at the northern end of Crown Point Park near the dirt lot.

Fourth Saturday, 9-11 AM. Work party! Help build Ridgway's rail nesting platforms, tackle invasive species, plant natives, rabbit-proof the restoration area, and more. Help give some love to our marsh. Email nrs@ucsd.edu if you would like to participate. Work parties will now meet at the gate East of the normal entrance where Love Your Wetlands Day takes place.

Become a Docent at the Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve

Do you love birds, the environment, and educating others? Volunteer to become a docent for the new Wander the Wetlands project based out of the Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve, and become an expert on the birds and natural history of Kendall-Frost Marsh, and the restoration programs in Mission Bay.

This is the last remaining coastal wetland in Mission Bay - the last 1% of what Mission Bay was, and the seed that our ReWild wetlands will grow from. It's home to unique and threatened birds including the Ridgway's Rail and Belding's Savanna Sparrow, as well as plenty of other intertidal species. It is a fragile habitat, and we need dedicated docents to help ensure that the public can enjoy this habitat responsibly.

If you have any questions or would like to get involved, contact our staff at conservation@sandiegoaudubon.org.
