Kaiser Permanente helps California Least Terns

Saturday, March 4, 2023
9:00 am12:00 pm
Mariner's Point, Mission Bay

San Diego Audubon Society and OurKP San Diego Wellness are excited to host a community service event for the hard-working physicians of Kaiser Permanente at one of Mission Bay's most productive California Least Tern nesting preserves. KP physicians and their families are invited to give back to our bird community by helping to restore nesting habitat for this federally endangered migratory seabird at Mariner's Point.

Let's connect back with nature as we learn about the tern's natural history, remove invasive plants in dune ecosystems to support their nesting habitat before their arrival in April. A wildlife photographer will be present sharing helpful tips and tricks to capturing the best photographs of native wildlife. You'll go home with a new appreciation for native plant species and take home a few native seeds to plant in your own yards.

Coffee, light refreshments and snacks will be provided. All tools will be provided including gloves but please come prepared in closed-toed shoes, bring a reusable water bottle and hat. Feel free to bring your cameras to take photos.

Please RSVP with your kp.org email at the link above. Your personal information will be used solely for the purposes of this event and will not be shared with any third parties.

Note to the general public that this event is a PRIVATE event for Kaiser Permanente physicians and their families only. If you are interested in learning how you can help restore habitat, please reach out to santamaria@sandiegoaudubon.org for other opportunities.
