Otay Valley Regional Park extends 13 miles through the Otay Valley from west of I-5 along the Otay river to the Lower and Upper Otay Lakes. The trail from the Rios Avenue trailhead passes through coastal sage scrub and riparian woodland. Often seen birds are Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Mallard, Western Scrub-Jay, Song Sparrow, California Towhee, Spotted Towhee, Yellow-breasted Chat, and Bewick’s Wren. Easy walking on a well maintained trail. Porta-potties available at the trailhead. Capped at 15 participants.

Directions: From I-805 South, exit at Main St. in Chula Vista and turn right (west). Go left (south) on Otay Valley Rd, then left (south) again on Rios Avenue. Turn left on to a driveway just before the large church. Proceed to the parking lot where we will meet at the Rios Avenue Staging Area.
