San Diego River – Robb Field, and possibly a bit of Sea World Drive
Google Maps: Peninsula Tennis Club, GPS: 32.7556, -117.2407
Leaders: Peter Thomas, and others.
The San Diego River Estuary adjacent to Robb Field is one of the most productive and rewarding birding sites in our region. The salt marsh mudflats, sand islands, and wetlands, always changing with the fluctuating tides, provide rest spots and foraging areas for a wealth of bird species. We will focus on wintering shorebirds, gulls, and terns, as well as year-round residents. If time permits, we will travel to the Sea World Dr. to see what may be further upstream. Restrooms are available at the trailhead at Robb Field. Meet on the levee opposite the tennis courts. Capped at 15 participants.
