Birding Trip: Walker Preserve

Saturday, February 12, 2022
8:00 am11:00 am
Magnolia avenue, directions given after registration

The Walker Preserve Nature Trail is a finished portion of the San Diego River Foundation project, which is developing a series of interconnected trails that will follow the San Diego River from the coast to the mountains. We will start at Magnolia Avenue, where there is on-street parking just north of the trail entrance, and head east along hard-packed and well-managed dirt trails through this lovely native riparian corridor. Some vantage points provide views of the water and associated waterfowl, and the laurel sumac, toyon, and other native plants are alive with sparrows, towhees, thrashers, thrushes, warblers, and woodpeckers. Come and join us for a 3 hour easy walk of about 2 miles total along this delightful trail. Martha’s scouting trip yielded the following bird list: https://ebird.org/checklist/S100945612
