Just north of the Tijuana River in San Ysidro and to the west of Dairy Mart Road is a series of holding ponds that provide habitat for a rich diversity of birds. Black-crowned night herons perch among the reeds by the shore, a large variety of ducks and grebes dabble and dive in the water, wrens, finches, sparrows, and gnatcatchers search the brush for insects and seeds, and raptors of all sorts hunt overhead. Come explore this bounty of birdlife with us! Expect to cover about 2 miles on easy dirt paths. Capped at 12 participants.
On-line registration is required. Caps on the number of participants on each outing are specified. COVID-19 Requirements: You must be more than 2 weeks beyond your second vaccination (Pfizer/Moderna) or the single dose (Johnson and Johnson) at the time of the trip. A mask is not mandatory as of now, but any guidelines in place at the time of the outing will be followed.
