Bird Walks: Whelan Lake Sanctuary – Inland Freshwater GROUP B
Whelan Lake is a private bird sanctuary located in Oceanside featuring a large freshwater lake surrounded by freshwater marsh, riparian woodland, grassland, and oak woodland habitats. We expect to see arriving wintering species such as Shoveler, Gadwall and other ducks, along with many residents. September lists have ranged from 50 to 70 individual species. Bring water and sunscreen. Hard rain cancels, call to confirm. Porta-potty is available. Capped at 2 groups of 10 participants each.
