This field trip visits the south side of the San Diego River. The San Diego River Estuary is one of the most productive and rewarding birding sites in our region. The salt marsh mudflats, sand islands, and wetlands, always changing with the fluctuating tides, provide rest spots and foraging areas for a wealth of bird species. Summer birds are here, including Elegant and Least Terns. What else might be see? Surprises happen. Restrooms are available at the trailhead at Robb Field. Meet on the levee opposite the tennis courts.
A requirement for participation at this point is being more than 2 weeks beyond the second vaccination (Pfizer/Moderna) or the single dose (Johnson and Johnson) at the time of the trip. Recent CDC recommendations do not currently require masks.
Capped at 8 participants.
