This field trip, which is focused on beginning birders, visits the south side of the San Diego River. The San Diego River Estuary is one of the most productive and rewarding birding sites in our region. The salt marsh mudflats, sand islands, and wetlands, always changing with the fluctuating tides, provide rest spots and foraging areas for a wealth of bird species. Some shorebirds who have wintered here are now in full breeding plumage, readying to fly north. Wow! Restrooms are available at the trailhead at Robb Field. Meet on the levee opposite the tennis courts. Capped at 8 participants. Participants must be >2 weeks post final Covid vaccination. Per the latest CDC guidelines masks and distancing for outdoor activities in small groups are not required.
