Old Mission Dam is a favorite destination among birders all year round. A variety of resident birds such as California Thrasher, Western Meadowlark, Wrentit, Bewick’s Wren, and Nuttall’s Woodpecker. This bird walk will cover varied terrain and focus on riparian woodland around the historic dam and the nearby grassland. Spring migrants and summer visitors will also be sought, such as Yellow and Wilson’s Warblers, Phainopepla, Western Tanager, Western Kingbird, Grasshopper Sparrow, and Blue Grosbeak. Porta-potty at the trailhead. Capped at 25 participants.

Directions: Exit CA-52 at Mast Blvd, exit 13. Take Mast Blvd to West Hills Parkway, turn right on Mission Gorge Rd, take a slight right onto Father Junipero Serra Trail. Small Parking lot will be on the right in about 0.75 miles. If the lot is full parking along the road.
