Border Field State Park comprises the extreme southwestern corner of the United States, and borders both Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. It is also part of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve, a habitat containing shoreline and sand dunes at the very west, giving way to salt marsh and then riparian scrub and woodland towards the east. Shorebirds should be plentiful, a great variety of raptors cruise the area, and at this time of the year we might expect various migrating birds to be passing through the riparian area. The walk will start before the entrance to the park and continue to the sea, a total distance of about 3 miles on easy flat dirt trails leading to a sandy beach and back. Come join us to explore the rich diversity of this landscape.
