Conservation Team Leader

Conservation heroes at a restoration event in Oct, 2017Join our Conservation Team Leader program (CTL) and become a habitat restoration expert! CTLs are trained volunteers who lead others in the field at our CA Least Tern community restoration events. CTLs participate in a full day training session (scheduled for Saturday, Jan 27, 9am - 4pm) and then commit to attending at least six restoration events during the spring season. At the events, CTLs help with set up, check in and leading small groups (5 – 10 people) in the field. Applications are due by January 19th. Outdoor Education Docent

Rebekah Angona introduces a group to AnstineSan Diego Audubon is seeking applicants for an exciting new volunteer outdoor education docent training and certification program. Do you want to learn more about local flora and fauna, how to effectively engage participants ranging from elementary-aged students to seniors, and gain experience in the field of outdoor education? Then our docent-training program may be just for you!

After completing the two-week training, volunteer docents will be ready to put their new knowledge to use by leading Saturday hikes for the public at our preserve or assisting San Diego Audubon Naturalists in teaching our outdoor education program, Anstine Adventures. The training will be followed by a minimum commitment of two volunteer days per month through June of 2018, at which point San Diego Audubon will provide a certificate of completion and an official graduation for fully fledged docents.

Where?: The training program will take place at Anstine-Audubon Nature Preserve (2437 Hutchison Street, Vista, CA 92084)

  • Thursday February 8th 6-9pm
  • Saturday February 10th 9am – 12pm
  • Thursday February 15th 6-9pm
  • Saturday February 17th 9am – 12pm
