San Diego County has more threatened and endangered species than any other county in North America. This dubious distinction puts our region on the leading edge of biodiversity loss, making the need for action obvious and urgent.

While his level of unfamiliarity is hopefully not characteristic of most residents, it does highlight the compelling need to win support for our natural world.
