This full-day trip will leave early and arrive in the desert as the sun rises. Likely birding locations include the sand dunes at Old Springs Road, Borrego Palm Canyon, Anza-Borrego Desert State Park visitor's center

San Diego County's mountains provide diverse birding environments, consisting of mixed oak and conifer forests interspersed with expanses of grassland and chaparral from 4,000 to just over 6,000 feet in elevation.

This trip into the Tijuana River Valley along the Mexican border will explore fabled birding hotspots like Dairy Mart Pond, Border Field State Park, Bird and Butterfly Garden, Tijuana Slough National Wildlife Refuge, and the Imperial Beach Pier.

On this trip we will visit Lake Hodges, designated as a Globally Important Bird Area by the American Bird Conservancy, as well as, another culturally and civilized spot not too distant, favored by birders and oenophiles.

This trip will expand upon what was learned in the previous day's classroom session (See T13) and allow budding photographers to practice professional techniques in local hotspots.  The cost of this trip includes the workshop.
