Environmental Champions Grant
San Diego Audubon has received a Sempra Energy Foundation $50,000 grant to support the San Diego Children and Nature Collaborative (SDCaN).
Audubon was also selected as the winner of the Environmental Champions Bonus Grant of $50,000. Many thanks to all of you who voted for us.

TogetherGreen Grant
| San Diego Audubon Society is the proud recipient of a $20,000 TogetherGreen grant to promote wildlife-friendly landscapes in the eastern Chula Vista community of Eastlake. SDAS will be collaborating with the City of Chula Vista and the National Wildlife Federation to carry out a NatureScape workshop series and to install a demonstration habitat garden. Bird Festival
The 2010 San Diego Bird Festival will be held on March 4 - 7. A registration form can be downloaded from the Festival page. Many events are full or nearly full, so please check the Festival page before registering. Please do not mail registration forms after February 26th--contact us by phone or e-mail after that to hold places in events. All scheduled events with descriptions and prices are posted on the Festival Page. details

Avian Adventures
The April Texas Hill Country and SE Arizona trips are nearly full. Call the office for information about remaing spaces. The schedule of Avian Adventures for 2010 as well as photos of the Veracruz and South Texas trips are posted. details
San Diego Flyway Cities Coalition
San Diego Audubon and the National WIldlife Federation have teamed to lead a coalition of local planners, nature centers and other organizations to enhance the Pacific flyway within the San Diego metropolitan area. To find out more about the coalition click here.
Audubon Speakers
Would you like to have a speaker at your next community meeting? We can provide seven illustrated presentations given by our members. Topics include environmental issues, local area birding, and wildlife habitat establishment. details

We have set up a way for you to receive occasional announcements about volunteer events, conservation activities, or to be notified when SKETCHES has been posted on line. You can easily unsubscribe at any time and your e-mail address is never shared with any other organization. details
San Diego County Birding Sites
We have put SDAS and Bill McCausland's Birding San Diego County on line. This interactive map links to descriptions of 31 locations of interest to local and visiting birders. There are links to interactive maps that can provide detailed driving directions. details
Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary
Our Silverwood Wildlife Sanctuary has celebrated its 40th anniversary. It was created in January, 1966, when Harry Woodward’s donation of 85 acres along Wildcat Canyon Road for a nature preserve was recorded by the County. Since then, the nature sanctuary has expanded to take in a total of 723 acres today.
Approximately 30 species of mammals, 25 reptiles, and 160 bird species have been recorded within the sanctuary.
Silverwood is open for guided tours on Sundays and by appointment. details
