Want to help endangered birds while exploring a typically inaccessible part of Mission Bay? Join us Sunday March 13 as we restore CA Least Tern habitat on FAA Island!

We will be working from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm, but plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early! All volunteers should come prepared to pull out invasive plants, rake up plant matter, and get dirty! Jobs will be assigned on site according to need and ability. Remember to wear pants, hiking boots, and rain/sun protection. All gear will be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring a pair of work gloves if you have them. We’ll provide water, but bring a reusable bottle for refills. 

Please note that all interested volunteers MUST RSVP, as we will be taking a boat to the island. If you don't RSVP, you won't have a seat! Contact Megan Flaherty, Conservation Project Coordinator at flaherty@sandiegoaudubon.org or (858) 273-7800 x106 if you are interested in participating.

kendall frost marshHelp restore native flora at the The Kendall-Frost Marsh Reserve! This revegetation project has focused on creating a more natural slope between wetlands and uplands, which provides vital habitat for a wide variety of plants and wildlife including the endangered Light-Footed Ridgway's (Clapper) Rail. Come join our volunteer work party and help with erosion control, irrigation, and the fun part, planting native plants! Emory Cove provides important habitat for both resident and migratory bird species, and the San Diego Audubon Society has teamed up with the Port of San Diego and the San Diego Oceans Foundation to restore it! Help us remove invasive ice plant, and replace it with native coastal sage species.
