2015 BIRD FESTIVAL REGISTRATION
Registration will be online on October 1, 2014. You may find it useful to do your planning first by using the Registration Worksheet posted here or in the center of the brochure. Confirmation will be sent automatically at the completion of online registration. If you are unable to register using the website, fill out the worksheet and mail to us with your payment and we will send confirmation back to you.
CHECK-INWhen you arrive, there is a short check-in procedure in the Baja Room Atrium, to receive a badge, tickets for those events requiring them, bird lists, and to submit a signed waiver form (required of all attendees). The waiver form is posted on line and you can save time by bringing a copy with you. We recommend you check in the day before your first event if it’s an early trip to avoid morning delays. The on-line registration form indicates the number of remaining openings for each event. While standby lists will not be maintained, any cancellations will release places for others.
Registration for field trips, workshops, and mixers can be done during the Festival (Wednesday evening and Thursday through Sunday) in person at the registration area in Marina Village. Please keep in mind that many of our events fill well ahead of the time.
CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY
All events are held, rain or shine, unless there is a threat to human health and safety. Festival patrons will be notified via e-mail of any changes to festival itineraries. If we cancel a Festival trip or workshop you will receive a full refund for that event.
BIRDING & OPTICS EXPO AND MIXERS
Our exhibitions and vendors are located in the Marina Village Baja Room near the registration area. This area is open to the public from 1 to 4 pm Thursday through Sunday. Mixer hours are 4 to 6 pm Thursday and Friday for ticketed guests.
We provide all trip transportation. All trips depart from and conclude at Marina Village. Buses or vans leave at the scheduled event time. Allow time to register and purchase lunches.
All workshops are held at Marina Village in the Starboard Room. Signs will direct you to the workshop location.
Luncheon and Evening Program NOTES
Luncheon and Evening programs will take place at the Blue Pearl Restaurant, on the grounds of the Dana Hotel, our offical hotel for the 2015 Festival. Arrive a few minutes early to check in.
Except as noted, our trips will not be stopping in areas where food can be purchased. Some trips and programs include lunch, as indicated in the field trip description.
If you wish to purchase a box lunch, you may do so at the time of event registration. Just use the drop-down menus on the registration form and your lunch will be ready for pickup in the Baja room 1/2 hour prior to your field trip. Sandwiches and salads are available, including vegetarian options.
Our box lunch provider for 2015 is Recess.
Weather in San Diego in March is mild and rain is a possibility. Trips into mountains will experience cold temperatures—be sure to bring layered, warm clothing and closed-toe shoes for these trips. A change of dry clothing is recommended for kayak trips.
